Wedding ceremonies at the House: meet our suppliers

Part of what makes House of St John’s so unique is its ability to honour Bath’s renowned history whilst seamlessly incorporating a modern twist. From delicate in-house floral arrangements to ceremony chairs carved from beech wood, our team have thoughtfully designed a wedding experience that exudes elegance. However, we also recognise how important it is to allow couples to add their own personal touch.

A recent study has suggested that over 80% of couples wish that their wedding ceremony had been more personal. Therefore, we have carefully curated a list of local, independent suppliers that we highly recommend to couples who are planning to upgrade and personalise their ceremony at the House of St John’s.

Florists

Beth and Christine at Honeysuckle, a bath-based independent florist, will shower our venue with delicate, green and white floral arrangements for your wedding. Recognised for honouring the natural beauty of flowers, Christine, the founder, brings expertise from high-fashion flower shops in London, complementing the timeless charm of House of St John’s.

The simplicity and elegance of our floral arrangements are perfect for a minimalist ceremony, or couples can choose to upgrade their package and tailor their flowers to any theme, choosing from a variety of colours and styles. According to Hitched, searches for ‘vibrant wedding flowers’ have surged by 300% this year, marking a clear demand for more flair and creativity opposed to tradition. As a result, we offer couples the choice to personalise as they wish.

Bubbles

What is a celebration without bubbles? The team at Minerva Wine supply us with Bath’s own, locally produced sparkling wine, allowing our couples to have a champagne reception if they wish. Alcohol free options are also available if people would like a toast but not the alcohol. Not only do Minerva Wine celebrate Bath’s rich heritage, but they are deeply committed to employing environmentally responsible practises in their wine making process. As a result, by toasting with Minerva Wine, couples are sustainably connecting with a Roman tradition that has spanned centuries.

Photographers

When it comes to capturing the raw emotions of our couples, as well as the unique charm of our venue, The Shannons and Emily Rose are exceptional. As seasoned professionals, these locally based photographers have been featured in the likes of Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, and Cosmopolitan, ensuring your big day will be documented to the highest standards. By taking an unobtrusive approach, they are able to record the authenticity of your day without over-stepping any boundaries. Usually, the best photos happen naturally.

Music

Whether it is to settle guests, elevate emotional anticipation, or for a celebratory exit, the team at House of St John’s understand that music plays a crucial role during a wedding ceremony. Therefore, as part of our standard package, we have a music system that allows our couples to use a playlist of their choice. However, for something slightly more special, couples can upgrade to a live musician. Local Cellist, Zorana, is the perfect choice for couples who want to create a romantic atmosphere or add a touch of Bridgerton-inspired elegance with string renditions of their favourite songs. Alternatively, Vocal Works Gospel Choir is an excellent choice for adding an uplifting, moving and unforgettable sound to your ceremony or drinks reception.

The after party

Looking to extend the celebration? We also offer a selection of fantastic food recommendations, just a short walk from our venue. From Indian food to sharing plates, Bath has something for everyone. Corkage offers not just a meal, but an experience. Everything is crafted in-house using only the finest local ingredients. The Sepoy Club is dedicated to bringing the rich flavours and vibrant Indian culture to Bath, making authentic dishes with the best ingredients. Clayton’s Kitchen is renowned for its uncomplicated dishes that explore and showcase the freshest and very best ingredients. Robun is a celebration of authentic Japanese food and drink, offering a casual yet refined environment to share freshly prepared small plates and pairings.

Accommodation

Finally, we offer couples and their guests a discounted stay at St Catherine’s. The ten lavish, one-bedroom apartments are perfect for those who want to extend their stay in Bath and explore all it has to offer. More importantly, similarly to House of St John’s, all profits are donated to our founder, St John’s Foundation, helping to support the local community.
