Women in menopause struggle with a loss of self-esteem, a grief around their changing shape, their changing physical needs, and capabilities. It can be an emotional roller-coaster.
Yoga for Menopause is uniquely beneficial to women at this stage of their life. Because it encourages a deep level of acceptance of our unique bodies and respect for their natural phases, shapes, capabilities, and an ability to ride with the changes rather than resisting them.
Yoga for Menopause has a deep respect for and application of cutting-edge research into the science of anatomy and movement. Particular importance given to the system of fascia. The importance of self-determination is key, and Paula encourages participant’s own exploration of the tradition of yoga as a tool to offer our bodies a more comfortable journey through this stage of their lives.
Yoga cannot fix menopause. This is because menopause is not something to be fixed, but navigated as well as possible, given the severity of the storm and the resources available to the navigator. It is also because yoga does not have the tools to reverse the real effects of living in an oestrogen dominate and the oestrogen-deficient state. The changes of hormonal levels in our bodies are natural and inevitable.
